TREATMENTS

Moisturizing is Key

Proper hair treatment is important to maintain healthy hair and prevent damage that might lead to further problems. Your hair is a good indicator of whether or not your body is receiving and processing a sufficient amount of vitamins and nutrients to keep you in good health. Always pay attention to what your hair is telling you!

Black natural hair is the most susceptible to dryness, so it requires extra care. Go for a moisturizing serum, leave-in conditioner, hair masks, hair oils such as coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil. Keeping your ends well moisturized will prevent them from splitting in the future.

Going for a hot oil treatment once or twice a month can be a great way of adding moisture and shine to your hair as well as improving elasticity.

Cold oils can also be used daily – especially on hair ends. Add a pea-sized amount of oil to your hands, rub and apply to the ends. This will help add shine and ease manageability.

Essential Oils for Hair Growth

Whether you are trying to avoid chemicals or are just looking to experiment with some new hair care products, try natural oils such as coconut, argan, jojoba, almond, olive and grapeseed. These are some of the best oils for hair health and can be used directly on the skin and hair. Essential oils, such as lavender and lemongrass, also possess many qualities that help nourish and strengthen hair, while leaving it looking and smelling great.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint oil can cause a cold, tingling feeling when it increases circulation to the area it’s applied to. This can help stimulate hair growth during its growing phase.

Mix 2 drops of peppermint essential oil with the carrier oil of your choice. Massage it into your scalp, and leave on for 5 minutes before washing out thoroughly with shampoo and conditioner.

Rosemary Essential Oil

If you want to improve both hair thickness and hair growth, rosemary oil is a great choice thanks to its ability to improve cellular generation.

Some say it could even prevent hair loss, pointing to Mediterranean cultures’ use of rosemary in hair rinses to promote hair growth for hundreds of years as supporting evidence.

Cedarwood Essential Oil

Cedarwood essential oil is thought to promote hair growth and reduce hair loss by balancing the oil-producing glands in the scalp. It also has antifungal and antibacterial properties, which can treat different conditions that may contribute to dandruff or hair loss.

Lemongrass Essential Oil

Lemongrass oil is an essential oil derived from an herb in the Poaceae grass family. It contains many vitamins and minerals that are great for the hair. Lemongrass oil has healing qualities and works well for a variety of hair and scalp issues. Lemongrass oil is also proven to strengthen hair follicles and prevent and reduce hair loss.

Lemongrass oil possesses anti-fungal and antiviral properties and is effective in relieving dry scalp and dandruff. It is proven to inhibit dandruff caused by yeast issues. Lemongrass oil also prevents hair loss and gives hair a healthy shine. It also smells fresh and clean and is a known stress reliever.

 Jojoba Essential Oil

Jojoba oil, pronounced ho-ho-ba, is a product of the jojoba plant. Jojoba deeply penetrates the hair shaft and follicle, working from the inside out, acting as a great moisturizer. Jojoba oil also has antibacterial qualities. All-natural, unrefined jojoba oil is the best type to use on hair and skin since it does not contain any chemical ingredients.

 Thyme Essential Oil

Thyme can help promote hair growth by both stimulating the scalp and actively preventing hair loss. Like cedarwood oil, thyme oil was also found to be helpful in treating alopecia areataTrusted Source.

Grapeseed Essential Oil

Grapeseed oil is an extract of cold-pressed grape seeds. It contains emollients, antioxidants, and nutrients that are essential to the growth of healthy hair and skin cells. While it possesses the same moisturizing qualities as many other natural oils, grapeseed oil is superior in its ability to treat brittle and weak hair and hair loss. It is also effective dandruff and dermatitis fighter and may help people regrow hair.
The high content of Vitamin E in grapeseed oil encourages the production of linoleic acid, which helps restore strength and shine to weak and brittle hair.
